Public service is a key component of the New Jersey Elks. Elks create and participate in many programs to better our local communities. These are just of few of our successes:
Special Needs Children Camp Moore, a state of the art summer camp facility, provides special needs children with an outdoor sleep away camping experience.
Hoop Shoot The Elks Hoop Shoot Free Throw Program is open to all boys and girls ages eight through thirteen. The contest starts at the local lodge level and advances through district, state and regional competitions before continuing to the national finals.
Drug Awareness The Elks Drug Awareness Program distributes literature and organizes local and state wide events to educate children and their parents about the dangers posed by alcohol, tobacco and illegal drugs.
Veterans Programs Since the early days of our Order, the Veterans Service Commission has patriotically served those who have fought for our great nation. Elks participate in a variety of activities with local Veteran’s hospitals. The Elks long standing tradition vows to remember all of our veterans.

So you want to join the Elks? To be eligible for membership in the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, you must be a citizen of the
You must be sponsored by a member of an Elks Lodge and reside in the jurisdiction of the Lodge you wish to join. Two other Elks need be your co-sponsors. The Elk who proposes you for membership will obtain a Membership Application from their local Lodge Secretary.
After your proposer completes the required portion, you will be given the Application for Membership. Fill out your portion of the application completely. Do not leave questions unanswered. When the application is complete it should be returned to the Lodge Secretary.
Your application will be presented and read at a regular Lodge meeting. It will be received by the Investigating Committee, who will contact you and set up a time for you and your sponsor to meet with the committee.
After meeting with the Investigating Committee, the committee will report to the Lodge concerning your membership. Lodge members will be given proper notice and a vote will be taken.
At the conclusion of the membership vote, you will be notified of the result. You and your spouse will be asked to present yourself for orientation. During this process, you will learn more about the Order's programs and charities. A date will be set for your official initiation into the Order. Once initiated, you are welcome to take part in all meetings and social functions of the Lodge.
