New Resource for Veterans-Make the Connection!

U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Make the Connection Campaign

Elks and members of our communities can support Veterans who are experiencing hard times by visiting and sharing MakeTheConnection.net, a website that connects Veterans and their families and friends with information, resources, and solutions for living more fulfilling lives.

This approachable online resource links Veterans and their loved ones to hundreds of testimonials by Veterans from every military branch, service era, and demographic group as well as their family members—all sharing their stories of overcoming challenges by seeking support. The site also provides a locator for Veterans’ resources across the country and reliable information about mental health and resilience, conditionssigns and symptoms, and life events, such asphysical injury and retirement and aging

Visit MakeTheConnection.net to explore the site and download print materials to distribute. You can also visit the Make the Connection YouTube channel, “like” the Make the Connection Facebookpage, and share their content with your friends to promote the message: Support is available and treatment works.

Vice President message for May 2019

Spring is here and so is our District Batters-Up Competition.  Lodge Youth Activities Chairs should be scheduling their lodge competitions.  If, your lodge has a low number of competitors consider, joining another lodges contest. Our District Batters-Up Competition will be in July.  Date TBA.

Congratulations to the new and returning Exalted Rulers for the fraternal year 2019-2020.

By now, all Exalted Rulers should have completed their lodge committee chair list and submitted it to VP Elect Dan Dezaio.

As my term comes to an end at the Wildwood Convention, it has been an honor and my pleasure to represent our District as Vice President.  Special thanks to all District and Lodge Chairs for a terrific job done with their prospective committees.  I appreciate all the personal time dedicated to their committees.  Also, special thanks to our District Advisors, DD Betty Bellanca, PDD’s and PVP’s for your support and assistance this past year.  Special thanks to State President Ron Mangone for his leadership and encouragement throughout my term.  Thank you, to all the lodges for your invites where I received a warm welcome and great hospitality.  It’s because of the members unwavering dedication to our charitable works that, our District raises the bar each and every year.  A legacy that will continue on this year under the leadership of DD Designate Jim Kopcho and VP Elect Dan Dezaio.

Please remember our Veterans on Memorial Day, May 27th by participating or spectating in a parade or ceremony.  May God Bless Our Veterans and the United States of America.

Fraternally,

Carol Bonura, VP

Message from the District Deputy GER – May 2019

We have concluded our first month for the new Fraternal year 2019-2020.  For all the new ERs, this is going to be a busy year for you but with the guidance of your PERs hopefully it will be a fun year.  Rely on the PERs, relay on the DD and PDDs, rely on the ER round tables and most of all don’t be afraid to ask questions.  Nobody has all the answers and we are all here to help each other.

Remember folks that the Annual Financial Report is to be filed online by June 30th.  Contact your accountants to remind them of this deadline.  There will be no extensions offered this year… all reports MUST be in by June 30th.

Flag Day is June 14th so it is never too soon to start preparing for this service.  Get the word out to you community, invite other service organizations to partake and above all show the community what the Flag means to the B.P.O. Elks.  I’m sure most people don’t even know the history of our Flag, so invite them to take the time and attend this very enlightening service.  They will not be disappointed.

You should be receiving the resolutions from Grand Lodge soon.  They are to be read on the Lodge floor at a regular Lodge meeting.  Be sure to carefully review each item that will be presented for a vote at the Grand Lodge Convention.

Congratulations once again to all the new ERs and the returning ERs.  Have a good year and remember I am only a phone call away, should you need me.

Fraternally,

Betty Bellanca, DDGER
