Conditions were horrific but once again the warm glow of charitable giving cloaked all who endured a few moments of discomfort for the betterment of others, raising over $68,000 for Elks Camp Moore and the Cooley’s Anemia Foundation, proving beyond a doubt Elks Care and they DO make a Difference.

Despite the weather spirits were high and continued to rise at the “Apres Plunge party” hosted by the Manasquan Elks Lodge, whose hospitality warmed body and soul. All in attendance were inspired by guest speaker Alicia Somma, a Cooley’s patient and three time “plunger” when she described the New Jersey Elks as “family”. Alicia recently participated in a Stem Cell Research trial to help find a cure for this genetic blood disorder that robs young patients of a normal life expectancy.

The Plunge Committee’s goal this year is $85,000 and the plunge gave us a big head start, we hope to reach the goal on April 25,2010 at the “Last Man Standing Raffle and Picnic /Cigar and Cordial Afternoon”. Only 300 raffle tickets will be sold entitling the holder to two free admissions to the Pavilion at Lacey Elks Lodge, Beach Blvd. Forked River starting at 2PM. Raffle tickets are $100.00 each and 28 cash prizes will be awarded by a published schedule building to the last ticket drawn for the grand prize of $10,000.00 For further information call John Sentner, PSP at 732-681-8457.
