Every year the NJ State Elks Special Children's Committee awards two scholarships of up to $2,500 per year for four years. They are awarded to a graduating male high school senior and a graduating female high school senior from the State of New Jersey. Applications are sent to schools throughout New Jersey in early November and are due in by mid April. Please stop back later in the year for this years dates.

Scholarship award applications are sent to High School Guidance Counselors throughout the State of New Jersey. If you are interested or know of a handicapped senior who may be, please contact State head-quarters @ 732-326-1300 for an application. Please note that Applications from the jurisdictional territory of a Lodge are considered to be sponsored by that Lodge.

NEW JERSEY STATE ELKS
SPECIAL CHILDREN'S COMMITTEE SCHOLARSHIP RULES AND REGULATIONS

Scholarship aid in the form of payment of tuition fees in an amount not to exceed $2,500 annually, is offered each year to a boy and girl graduating from High School, upon verification of a handicapped condition, excellent scholastic standing, general worthiness, and financial need.

The New Jersey State Elks Special Children's Scholarship Committee, or individuals designated by such Committee, shall, at their discretion annually, select a student or students, who are High School Seniors, to be awarded such Scholarships.

Upon a student being notified of his or her selection as a recipient of a Scholarship Award, the student shall immediately notify the New Jersey State Elks Handicapped Children's Committee by letter of his or her acceptance of the Award and shall also inform the Committee of the Name and Address of the College which the student will enter.

Payment of the annual tuition fee, or the sum of $2,500, toward the annual tuition shall be made by the Committee to the College in such installments as provided by the Rules and Regulations of the particular College concerned.

It will be required that the College keep the New Jersey State Elks Special Children's Committee informed of the progress and scholastic standing of the student.

Tuition fees will not be paid for more than four {4) years of College without special consent and agreement by the New Jersey State Elks Special Children's Scholarship Committee. This agreement and consent may be given in special circumstances at the discretion of the Committee.

The Applicant must be a bona fide resident of the State of New Jersey at the time of submitting this application and be attending a New Jersey High School.

The Applicant must be a High School Senior.

Scholarship aid under this Program may be discontinued by the New Jersey State Elks Scholarship Committee at any time.

The New Jersey State Elks Special Children's Committee is hereby given permission to take or use any picture or pictures of the Applicant for any purpose that the said Committee may deem advisable, and likewise make use of any pertinent information concerning the application.

The Applicant will make every attempt to attend the New Jersey State Elks Convention, held in June each year, and attend the Awards Ceremony so they may be presented to the New Jersey State Elks as the New Jersey State Elks Special Children's Committee Scholarship Winners.

THE APPLICATION SHALL BE SIGNED BY THE STUDENT APPLYING FOR THE SCHOLARSHIP AND BY HIS OR HER PARENTS OR GUARDIAN.
