I am humbled and honored to serve as the 108th State President of the New Jersey State Elks Association.   As we are safely able to get back to the business of Elkdom, I look forward to seeing everyone and doing what Elks Do – continue to support our Special Children, our Veterans, our Youth, and our communities.

My motto this year is “New Jersey Elks…Take Flight to New Heights”.   Just like a hot air balloon ascends at dawn to take flight, the New Jersey State Elks Association is at the dawn of a new Association Year.  During the coming year, we will continue to make membership a priority by not only increasing our membership but also reconnecting with our members that we haven’t seen in a while.  We are the premier charitable organization and we must continue to be a driving force in our communities and Take Flight to New Heights!

This year we will also celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Elks Camp Moore.   The first camp session in July 1971 had 3 attendees.   Look how far Elks Camp Moore has come!  Our beloved Camp is undergoing much needed renovations to continue to provide a state-of-the-art experience for our Special Children for the years to come.  This summer we will kick off a Coins For Camp Fundraiser to continue to revitalize Elks Camp Moore.   We will also pause in thoughtful remembrance of the 20th Anniversary of 9-11.

Our Youth programs which were put on hold last year will be back and better than ever.   The youth of our communities have missed us, but not more than we have missed them.

I am looking forward to working with our State Officers, District Vice Presidents, State and Region Chair people, and the members of the Advisory Board as we revitalize our programs proving once again that New Jersey is Elks Strong.  Together we will Take Flight to New Heights and show our communities what the New Jersey Elks Do!

The Covid 19 Pandemic impacted all our Lodges.   In remembrance of my dearest friend PDD Dominick Annuzzi and all those we have lost, let us honor their memories with a renewed sense of purpose and conviction exemplifying the virtues of Charity, Justice, Brotherly Love, and Fidelity.

God bless the members of the New Jersey State Elks Association, our Special Children, our Servicemen and Servicewomen, our first responders, and my God continue to bless the United States of America.

Fraternally yours,

Joyce Powell
