New Jersey Elks Scholarship Opportunities

Elks National Foundation Most Valuable Student Contest

The 2021 Most Valuable Student scholarship contest is open to any high school senior who is a US Citizen. Applicants will be judged on scholarship, leadership, and financial need. Ranging from $1,000 per year to $12,500 per year, Most Valuable Student scholarships are for students pursuing a four-year degree, on a full-time basis (minimum of 12 semester hours), in a U.S. college or university.


Applications for the 2021 contest are available online now. The 2021 MVS application deadline is November 5, 2020.

New Jersey Elks Most Valuable Student Scholarships

The top 24 Most Valuable Student Scholarship applications from New Jersey go on to the national level of judging and will be awarded at least a $4000 ($1000yr/4 years) scholarship and it could be more if any of the applicants go onto the Leadership Weekend.  The next 96 runner-ups are awarded a one-time $700 scholarship by the NJ State Elks Association.

Elks National Foundation Legacy Awards

Legacy Awards are $4000 ($1000yr/4 years). These Scholarships are for the children and grandchildren (step child or step grandchild) of Elks members. New Jersey families will be eligible for at least 10 awards.

Applications are available online now. The deadline for applications for the 2021 contest is February 1, 2021 at 11:59 a.m. Central Time.

New Jersey Elks Vocational Scholarship

The winners of the New Jersey Elks Vocational Scholarship Competition will each receive a one-time $1000.00 award. There will be two (one male – one female) $1000.00 Vocational Scholarships awarded in each of the twelve Elks’ Districts in New Jersey for a total of $24,000.00 in Scholarship Awards.

It is for students who have completed their secondary education requirements and plan to attend or are attending a post-secondary school to pursue a certificate or credential in a vocational or technical program. Post-secondary schools include vocational or technical schools. Students attending a two year community college are also eligible as long as they are pursuing a certificate or credential. Students planning to earn an Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree are not eligible for this scholarship program.

This scholarship is available to graduating high school students or within one year of earning a high school diploma or a G.E.D. Applicant must be a citizen of the United States and a resident of New Jersey on the date that the application is submitted.

Applications for the 2021 contest will be available online on March 1, 2021 and are due by May 15, 2021.
 

New Jersey Elks Family Scholarship

These $750.00 scholarships are available to children, grand-children and great-grandchildren (step-children, step-grandchildren and step-great-grand-children) of New Jersey Elks. High school seniors as well as college freshman, sophomores, and juniors can apply. A student should apply each year of eligibility. It runs from April 15th to June 30th each year.

Applications for the 2021 contest will be available online on April 15, 2021 and must be submitted by June 30, 2021.

New Jersey Elks Special Children Committee Scholarship

The Special Children’s Committee awards two scholarships of up to $2,500 per year for four years. They are awarded to a graduating male high school senior and a graduating female high school senior from the State of New Jersey. In early November applications are available online at NJElks.org and are also sent to schools throughout New Jersey. They are due back by mid-April.

These grants provide financial assistance to children of deceased or totally disabled Elks, who wish to obtain or further their college education.
