The Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks of the U.S.A. announced in February 2003, a plan to assist families who have had a father or mother called to active duty with the military reserve or National Guard. An Army of Hope, comprised of carpenters, electricians, mechanics, plumbers, attorneys, doctors, accountants, teachers, and professional people and tradesmen of every type, has been mobilized by the Order of Elks. These volunteers will be at the ready to help families of those patriots called to serve our nation. In 2,100 Elks Lodges across America 1,000,000 members are poised to make minor repairs and provide professional services to keep homes functioning until loved ones return. For more than 135 years the Elks have been aiding their communities and making America a better place to live. They continue this mission of service one patriot's home at a time.

Our Mission

Our mission statement is, “To assist our Active Military Servicemen and women, those severely Wounded in the line of duty, and our Fallen Hero families whose loved ones were killed in the line of duty.

The war on terror goes on and those sons and daughters serving in the military from New Jersey continue to die and become severely wounded. These are not single deaths, with the death of a loved one, part of a family, neighborhood and community dies. The parents, the children or grandchildren, aunts and uncles, friends, neighbors, co-workers all lose part of their hearts. You may have seen our tribute banner to the Fallen Heroes, to you they are faces. To this committee we know every parent and met with most of the family members. We shed tears with them and offer what comfort as best we can. The war on terror calls upon all of us to be vigilante but most of all falls on our military. We are trying our best to support New Jersey’s severely wounded and the families of our Fallen Heroes. We are becoming more and more aware of more troops that are severely wounded as time goes by that need our help. Please do not forget us when you give donations. The picnic is the only place there will be a donation line and we ask for you and your lodge to make a donation and honor our heroes and their families. Let them know their sacrifices have not been forgotten and never will be.

The work of the committee through your donations, have helped many soldiers and families from losing heat in the winter, being removed from housing and many other daily survival needs. We support job fairs to help the many veterans and soldiers get jobs as they return to civilian life or just get back on their feet. They need our help in so many ways.

We will continue to work with the schools to get cards and letters to our troops overseas. We will work to help them in every way we can while they are overseas with mementos from home and items to make life a little easier.

The Army of Hope is committed to our troops and will do everything within our power as Elks to aid and assist them.

On behalf of the AOH committee we say thank you, most importantly we say thank you on behalf of our active military Troops, Severely Wounded Soldiers and the families of our Fallen Heroes.
